Murryman Triathlon is located on the shores of Lake Bonney, Barmera - in the heart of the Riverland Region, @200 north-east of Adelaide. Local Adelaide Pro, Holly Ranson was great company for the road trip, sharing her local experiences and knowledge of the area, loved the drive seeing parts of South Australia's rural lands. I was well within my comfort zone, being a country girl myself who grew up in a rural northern NSW :-)
- Population of @3000
- Primarily an agricultural and viticultural town, located on Lake Bonney (Riverland), a freshwater lake.
- Berri-Barmara attractions: Lake Bonney which offers aquatic adventure for all water sport enthusiasts including fishing, sailing, triathlon of course! & sunsets at dusk...nice.
- Wine estates: Banrock Station Wine & Wetlands Centre http://www.banrockstation.com.au/
Swim - Ugly, blew up, smacked and punched big time. Very glad when it was over!
Bike - Rode like I wanted to blow up! Very windy in sections which I loved! Felt solid.
Run - Ran as hard as I could with what I had left in the tank. Loved the spectator support throughout.
Finish - 2nd to Lis who is in great shape and form at the moment. Another great performance mate, well done! Your on fire :-)
Recovery area - The best of everything! A full size decent finishers towel and medal, ice bath, massages, fruit, ice cream, brownies, sandwiches, muesli slice, chocolate milk, coke, water...and a great atmosphere of volunteers, family and athletes.
To round-up, I'm wrapped with my race and felt I achieved my goals. Re-grouping post Kona does have its ups and downs and I'm really glad I made the effort to come down to South Australia, allow myself to find my feet again domestically and connect with all the reasons I love this sport. Experience is everything to gain and nothing to loose!
A massive thank you to Andrew Bartlett and his team (ATC, sponsors and local community) for putting on such a fantastic event which I highly recommend to put down on your list of races to be a part of and support! :-)
