At the beginning of the season qualifying for the world champs was not a goal. Rather, I set out to compete in the races I enjoy with a goal to improve my potential in the sport and to test myself against the toughest local fields in the Asia Pacific region.
After a few early podium results my ranking was quite good and the World Championships became a possibility. I then targeted Melbourne IM for its high points and the race ultimately did not end well for various reasons with a DNF result. I realised that for me personally, racing to chase points as the number one priority wasn't the right way to go about it. Rather - I race my best when I'm enjoying myself and racing the course on its own merits and this realisation lead to my first Ironman win. I forgot about racing for points and raced Ironman Australia 'my local race' with the support of family and friends, enjoyed myself all day and was lucky to achieve my maiden Ironman distance victory.
Since then I have continued racing with passion and enjoyment with a focus to improve my potential in the sport and and I'm looking forward to competing at the World Championships with the same attitude and enthusiasm :-)
I've had incredible support from family, friends, my sponsors and specialist support team and my coach Gilesy. Qualification is a team achievement, one we can all share and be proud of :-)
Looking forward to an experience of a lifetime!
